Because of perceived social norms, litter begets litter, so areas that are littered get more littered, while areas that are clean tend to stay that way. Research has shown that encouragement works better than enforcement and when people see others taking care of our trails they typically join in.
Our goal is to build community around our public trails in an effort to eliminate litter and the need for clean up events. We’ll do this every weekend if we can find the volunteers. If you’re interested in becoming one of our advocates, please contact us, or come see us on Monday.
